♦ Rowan County Sheriff’s Office sources report that Martin Franklin Efird, 38, of Mitchell Street in E. Spencer and Carrie Ann Taylor, 34, of Park Avenue in Salisbury, were arrested Friday at around 10:36 p.m. near the intersection U.S. Hwy 601 and Gheen Road in Salisbury where Rowan County Sheriff’s deputies caught up with the pair.  Handcuffed and taken into custody without incident, Efird and Taylor would take the ride into Downtown Salisbury to the Magistrate’s Office for processing and then the Rowan County Detention Center.  The pair were sought for an alleged “burglary-forcible entry” in the 100 block of Whisnant Drive. The crime reported to 911 Dispatch at 6:15 a.m. by Tracy Lawrence Maynor, 47, who lives there.

After this initial arrest Efird and Taylor were linked with an alleged crime wave encompassing vehicles, homes, storage buildings, and businesses in Salisbury, Granite Quarry, and Rockwell that spanned from April 25th to May 11th. The focus was on power tools–a multitude of them. There were some 18 break-ins reported, but that list may grow.

After Efird’s and Taylor’s arrest Friday a large number of charges were added to the burglary from other alleged crimes attributed to the pair. More charges may be pending.
