Misty Dawn Bates and Belinda Johnston Perez, “Dollar General Dollies”, Allegedly Collared with Stolen Goods In Granite Quarry

♦ Misty Dawn Bates, 41, of Lexington, N.C. and Belinda Johnston Perez, 39, of Asheboro, N.C., allegedly on a whirlwind shoplifting spree, were arrested by Rowan County Sheriff’s deputies. Driving a Ford Mustang convertible packed with approximately 170 items, our budget-minded “Thelma and Louise” were collared in a Dollar General Store parking lot Wednesday. Found in the Mustang were such items as shampoos, body washes, OTC medications, air fresheners, apparel, fuel treatments, body washes. Value was over a thousand dollars. The items were allegedly shoplifted from Dollar General Stores in Rockwell, Granite Quarry, Denton, and Richfield plus a stop at the Walmart Express in Richfield, N.C.

Both women were charged with 2 counts each of larceny (misdemeanor). Bates is also charged with a single count of possession of drug paraphernalia (misdemeanor)

Under a secured $4,000 bond, Perez is being held in the Rowan County Detention Center while Bates was held under a secured $4,500 bond at the Rowan County Detention Center. She’s out now.

Both women face pending charges from Rowan County, Davidson County, and Stanly County.
